Make sure that both parents are Kennel Club Registered.

Make sure both parents have been hip scored.

Insist on seeing the mother with the puppies, do they all look healthy and living in clean conditions.

When looking at the puppies, feel them to assess if they are weak or skinny.

Study them at play, are they quiet or nervous.

The puppies should be wormed at least twice before they leave the breeder.

The breeder should give you a menu sheet detailing the puppy's dietary needs.
